Time Out 2

The first month of Time Out events was really nice. We listened to the sounds of Tibetan bowls, we experienced the hidden magic of old Slovenian folk songs and we learned about ancient yogic cleansing techniques.

The upcoming events are also aimed at promoting a wider and deeper knowledge of yoga and Indian culture. 

The first in the series will be a workshop on yoga nidra, a practice with ancient tantric roots, which is now used as a form of a deep relaxation with huge benefits for our bodies and minds. It's also referred to as a 'dynamic sleep' or 'dreaming awake' since it brings you to the borderlines of sleep and wakefulness where you experience the prolonged activity of alpha brain waves. Yoga nidra is recommended to people suffering from psychosomatic diseases such as insomnia, back problems, diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases, asthma, ulcer, migraine, cancer, digestive and skin disorders... It's also suited for people trying to improve their attitude towards life, their behavior, habits, memory, concentration and awakening their full spiritual potentials. This workshop will be conducted by me.

The second workshop will be guided meditation with the support of live Indian music. The meditation will be conducted by yoga teacher Ana Colja.  I will post more information about this event soon.

The third Time Out of this month will be about dancing. I'm really happy to announce that my favorite dance teacher Sylvia Valentine, who inspired me deeply, will be coming to give a workshop in Yoga studia Sadhana. She is a Bharatanatyam dancer and a truly amazing artist and I have to say attending her dance lessons were the highlight of this year for me. At the workshop Sylvia Valentine will teach us bhangra, a folk dance from Punjab, and a Bollywood choreography with elements of Rajastani folk dance and with lots of mudras. I can't wait!

The last event of this month will be a lecture on Bhagavadgita. Our guest will be Tina Košir Mazi, who is herself a yoga teacher and Satyananda yoga practitioner. She is also involved with yoga philosophy on the academic level: Bhagavadgita was her major at university and kashmiri saivism is now the theme of her PGD studies.
Bhagavadgita itself is the jewel of Indian philosophy and literature. It's a part of the great epic Mahabharata; it starts, when Arjun, one of the warriors in the great battle on the fields of Kurukshetra, decides he doesn't want to fight. "I don't care about this kingdom and power, if I have to kill my relatives just to get them." But his charioteer is no other than Hindu god Krishna, who explains to him why he has to fight. He also explains about karma, dharma, different types of yoga and more... An always inspiring and interesting subject, I'm really grateful for the chance to hear more about it.

Safari vol.16 with Death Rattle

Safari's 16th edition will be hosting guests from the UK. Death Rattle, a dark electronic pop duo from London is coming to play at our event on the 9th May. Safari Crew will be in charge of the warm up and after party and Koala will cast a spell on us with his twisted visual magic.

Na Safariju se bosta v okviru evropske turneje ustavila angleška temačneža Death Rattle. Duo iz Londona, ki se giblje med IDM elektroniko in darkerskim popom črpa navdih od zgodnjih Depeche Mode in Nine Inch Nails, v njihovem zvoku pa prepoznamo tudi vplive sodobnih pop deviacij tipa The Knife ali Lykke Li. Navdušila sta nas s svojo minimalistično, izčiščeno estetiko in prefinjenimi melodijami, v Ljubljano pa prihajata ravno ob izidu novega EPja "Fortress". Za vizualno podobo Gromke bo kot vedno skrbel Koala™, pred in po koncertu pa bomo za dj pultom N'toko, PlankTon in Zana. Se vidimo!

Na našem odru bomo končno lahko videli Lucijana Kranjca, a.k.a. Loutseauja. Nazadnje, ko smo morali njegov nastop zaradi bolezni odpovedati, smo o njem zapisali: "Če nas je doslej navduševal predvsem kot dj, ki je skupaj z ekipo Don't Make New People polnil Ljubljanske klube s svežimi zvoki, nas zadnje čase vse bolj razveseljuje z lastno, žanrsko neulovljivo produkcijo. Sam pravi, da izhaja iz zvoka 80ih in 90ih, njegovi komadi pa vedno zvenijo predvsem futuristično." Za aprilsko edicijo Safarija je napovedal še nekoliko bolj s hiphopom inspiriran live act, vmes pa je svoj hitro naraščajoč repertoar še razširil in dopolnil. Pridružila se mu bosta glasbena somišljenika  iz Kamnika, produkcijski dvojec All Things, ki pod vplivom sodobne house, bass in garage produkcije prav tako hitro niza nove plesne stvaritve. Z njimi bomo za dj pultom tudi N'toko, Zana in PlankTon, za projektorjem pa vam bo v podzavest svoja subliminalna sporočila ponovno pošiljal Koala™. Se vidimo!

Time Out

I'm happy to announce a series of events called Time Out which I will organize or help to organize at Yoga Studio Sadhana in Ljubljana. Events will be held on Thursdays at 8.00 pm from this week until the end of June. You can expect yoga workshops, concerts, dance classes, meditation and much more. 

For the opening of this Time Out season, we're hosting Dagmar Lukanovič who will be playing her Tibetan bowls and guiding us into deep relaxation. 

Next week we'll be hosting Lunin Med, a duo who plays Slovenian folk songs, supported by folk instruments from all over the world.

On the last week of April I'll be giving a lecture on yoga cleansing techniques (sat-karmas). These are techniques I studied in India many years ago and I still find them very fascinating and useful. 

These are open events, which means you're welcome to come even if you don't do yoga.

Na tokratnem Safariju se nam bo pridružil še kako sveži domači trio Trus! Skupino, ki se na svojem Bandcampu posrečeno opisuje kot "45% Alter, 20% Garage, 17% Punk, 10% Synth, 8% Electro NewWave" smo spoznali na zadnjem Klubskem maratonu Radia Študent, ravno ta teden pa so nas razveselili s svojim prvim albumom. Ta se drži zgoraj navedene glasbene formule, v zmes pa doda še dobro mero spevnih melodij in plesnih ritmov, ki si jih že po enem poslušanju ne moremo več izbiti iz glave. Zelo smo veseli, da jih lahko ob izzidu albuma "First Step" gostimo tudi na našem odru. Dj vrstam se bo tokrat pridružil povratnik na Safari Nikus Pokus, ki je pred dobrim letom v Gromki odžgal svoj prvi nastop, sedaj pa ima za sabo že pestro paleto izkušenj, mixov in tudi lastnih eventov. Poleg njega bomo do jutra z vami vaši N'toko, Zana, PlankTon in Koala™. Se vidimo!
