Here are some photos from Safari vol.13, all taken by Aleš Rosa. Despite one of the live-acts getting sick, heavy snowing and not so many people, this was one of the nicest Safaris this season. The vibes were just right for a great party and Wanda & Nove deViator managed to create a magical atmosphere with their music. Koala created perfect visual support for their sound and he amused us all trough the night with his clever selection of images and words. Thanks to everybody involved in the event and thanks to the crowd for being so great, sticking with us until the morning. See you again:)

Grandma's style

This is a photo by Mami Oonishi, taken in Tokyo at the end of the August 2012. She did the make-up and styling as well. I always admired Mami's fashion style and every time I asked her where did she get her clothes, she replied: "It's my grandmother's." Really cool and stylish things. This cute shirt is also her grandmother's :)

I worked with Mami before for a fashion brand Manu.

Wanda & Nova Deviator + Loutseau

For Safari's lucky 13 we're bringing two live acts of two generations back to Gromka's stage. The first one is Loutseau, one of Ljubljana's most talented and inspiring young producers at the moment, and the second one is the legendary duo Wanda & Nova deViator who are just about to release their new album.  A night of fresh electronic music, come and play :)

Na tokratnem Safariju se veselimo srečanja predstavnikov dveh generacij domačih elektronskih producentov; duet Wanda in Nova deViator se vračata na Safari tik pred izzidom novega albuma, oborožen s kupom lastne sveže produkcije pa se vrača tudi producent Loutseau. Wandi in Novi se končno obeta dokončan album z nadgrajenim materialom izvorno iz njunega performansa 'Zamrznjene pododbe' (Frozen Images). V uporniški in deviantni maniri nagovarjata publiko z mešanico osebno-izpovednega in kritičnega materiala fino zgnetenega v pobezljane ritme in elektronsko saturacijo. Nič manj eklektičen pa ni Loutseau, ki s svojo dejavnostjo gotovo izstopa kot eden perspektivnejših mladih producentov pri nas. Če nas je doslej navduševal predvsem kot dj, ki je skupaj z ekipo Don't Make New People polnil Ljubljanske klube s svežimi zvoki, nas zadnje čase vse bolj razveseljuje z lastno, žanrsko neulovljivo produkcijo. Sam pravi, da izhaja iz zvoka 80ih in 90ih, njegovi komadi pa vedno zvenijo predvsem futuristično. Gostom bomo družbo delali vam dobro znani rezident DJ-ji, N'toko, PlankTon in Zana, manjkal pa ne bo niti Koala™, ki bo skrbel za dekor in vizualije. Se vidimo v Gromki!

In Wonderland

Safari crew was invited to DJ at the masquerade party in Mostovna (Nova Gorica) last Saturday. It was really fun, as it usually is with masks and costumes :) We played along Nicus Pocus, the crowd was cool and the decoration was just amazing. Like entering Alice's Wonderland, feeling dislocated and disorientated in time and space. Here are some photos by Blaž Turk, Viki Šul, PlankTon and N'toko.

Safari vol.12 with BILK and SOME1ELSE

My first party after coming back from India. This winter has been strange so far. I was sick most of the time (except while in India) and the only occassions I went out were the parties I deejeyed at. And then straight back to bed. So, my expectations are quite high for this Safari- I want to dance and have fun - or is it too much to ask?
On the other hand, my mind is not quite here yet. All I do is sing along to Bollywood in my fake hindi instead of finding new music for my DJ set.  Sometimes jumping between such extremely opposite realities is confusing :) But it's also something I enjoy the most- finding myself at both ends...
Anyway...

Leto 2013 začenjamo z gostovanjem še enega vrhunskega zagrebškega benda. Po odličnem nastopu ABOP prihajajo k nam BILK, radioaktivni trio ki mojstrsko prepleta breakbeat in jungle ritme z new-wave in indie estetiko. Leta 2006 so nas navdušili z odličnim albumom "This Bilk is Radioactive" in še boljšimi živimi nastopi, letos pa v Ljubljano prihajajo pred izzidom dolgo pričakovanega novega albuma! Poleg njih bo Gromko z basi napolnil trenutno eden najzanimivejših domačih producentov, Some1Else, ki z njemu lastnimi prijemi raziskuje vznemirljivo pokrajino med hiphopom in plesno elektroniko. Za zvok in sliko bomo skrbeli N'toko, Zana, PlankTon in Koala, za odlično atmosfero pa boste, kot vedno, poskrbeli vi. Se vidimo!

Après Garde

Here it is, Trinitron's new mini album Après Garde. Trinitron is a  'bedroom twee-Laibach, new wave, Koenji-kei, electro-pop' project that we have with Ian Martin, Kaname K and N'toko. This is our third release, the other two being 'More Real Than News' (2010) and 'Subsidence' (2011). As usual we spent three months discussing the songs and then three days writing and recording them. And by three days I mean the last three days in Tokyo before me and Miha went home. All Trinitron albums were recorded in exactly same way and powered by junk food.

Ian put it best when he described our sound: Something electronic happening with two girls talking over in funny accents.
And Miha continued with: If you're into weird new wave stuff with political/economic commentary wrapped in inside jokes, than this is the band for you.

So, the mini album is out on Call and Response Records, you can hear it on soundcloud and download it for free. Enjoy:)

Safari vol.11 with Kleemar and Helahirn

Welcome to the last Safari of the year 2012. This time we're hosting the legendary Kleemar, a well known producer from Slovenia's alter/ electronic scene. He will perform with his fresh new material, so we're all really looking forward to hearing his new stuff. 

The other guest of the night will be Helahirn, an energetic producer we saw performing recently and got very excited about. Check him out cause you're gonna hear a lot about him soon:)

I'm gonna DJ at Trashnjice on Thursday, December 6th. I think it's gonna be an interesting event: four DJs that will play Latino evergreens, Bollywood, yugoslavian goldies and techno, all in one night! The less sense it makes the better :)
Since I'm gonna play Bollywood music, I invited some girls from Bollywood dance group to join me on stage, yeeeeeeah!

Desire no more

Peter Giodani took some really nice photos again at Safari. The atmosphere at november's event was so good it still warms my heart when I think about it. Nina Belle made us dance us with her cool techno set and ABOP showed the audience they mean it. No joke. Dance or die:)
